How to sell an idea, product or service on the internet!

By nathanonn On June 3, 2009 Under copy writing

How to sell an idea, product, or service on the internet. It may sound as easy as you think. But in reality, it’s tougher than you expected. Unlike the brick and mortar business or offline selling, selling things online doesn’t require your negotiation skills, your charm or even your luck. In fact, you don’t even need to face-to-face meet with your prospect.

If you’re a sales person at the brick and mortar world then you should be familiar with this:-

Step one - make cold call

Step two - make appointment

Step three - do product presentation / demonstration

Step four – follow up with prospect

Step five – close the sales

This is the basic fundamental of closing sales in the offline world whereby you need to direct contact with your prospect in order for you to close sales.

Things are different in the online world. You don’t need to do cold call; you don’t need to make appointment; you don’t even have to face-to-face meet with your prospect in order to close sales.

No matter what you trying to sell online. All you need is your ability to write persuasion word that able to trigger your prospect’s interest and do whatever you want them to do. That’s copywriting.

So what is copywriting?

Copywriting is basically marketing. It is persuasive and it promotes an overall idea about a company, product or service. It is one of the most important aspects of internet marketing. It can make or break an online marketing campaign.

Since the main idea of copywriting is to sell an idea, product or service, it is very important for a internet marketer to understand what makes up a good copy (web copy can be a sales letter, ads, email and etc). It’s all about knowing how to use words. You have to know how to manipulate them and put them together in a way that achieves your ultimate goal.

A good web copy will grab attention and make people excited. Therefore it is going to speak your target audience and offer useful information that will captivate them.

You should address concerns, answer common questions and explain your product or service in your copy. In fact, your copy should make your customers want your product and feel, even, as if they need your product. You have to sow the seed in their mind that they can not live without your product.

It helps to write your web copy from the point of view of your target audience. Use language they would use. Talk as they would talk. You have to relate to them on that deeper level or they will likely click away to someone else’s website.

The quality of your products and how great they are is something only you will know until you start telling people about it. Essentially, that is what your copy will do.

You should approach your copywriting with the same enthusiasm you have when talking about your products. You want to convey that in words to your readers. You have to be passionate and articulate. You have to use the power of words to draw a mental picture for your readers about just how great your product is and why they must buy it.

Your web copy is something that is so very important that you should spend plenty of time developing it and revising it until it is perfect. It’s your virtual sales person on the internet. This is one area where you will not want to just throw something together.

Copywriting is something that not everyone can do. But it can be done through proper guideline. I’ve compile a short report on how to write a persuasion web copy that will make your product or service sells like hot cakes.
